Polypropylene

Polypropylene (PP)

A synthetic resin built up by the polymerization of propylene. One of the important families of polyolefin resins, polypropylene is molded or extruded into many plastic products in which toughness, flexibility, light weight, and heat resistance are required. It is also spun into fibers for employment in industrial and household textiles.

PP is a semi-crystalline polymer with a melting point of approximately 160°C. Its excellent chemical resistance makes it ideal for diverse applications across packaging, textiles, automotive, and industrial sectors.

The most widely utilized general-purpose grade. It contains only propylene monomer in a semi-crystalline solid form. Main applications include packaging, textiles, healthcare, pipes, automotive, and electrical applications.

Benefits

Higher crystallinity levels — better stiffness, tensile strength, impact resistance and initial creep resistance.

Applications

ExtrusionFilm, fiber (woven), continuous filament, spun-bond (non-woven), thermoforming, rope
FilmBOPP, cast film
Injection MoldingFood containers, toys, consumer goods, industrial parts, medical parts

PP Homopolymer

Contains a higher ethylene content compound which is softer but has better impact strength. Co-monomer units arranged in regular blocks make the thermoplastic tougher and less brittle. Suitable for applications requiring high strength, such as industrial usages.

Benefits

Better stress crack resistance, excellent impact resistance, and lower temperature toughness.

Applications

Compression FoldingCaps & closures
ExtrusionSheet & thermoforming, fiber, adhesive tape
FilmBlown film & cast films (bags, pouches, food packaging)
Injection MoldingBattery cases, automotive parts, pallets, luggage, TWIM

PP Block Copolymer

Produced by polymerizing together ethene and propene with ethene units randomly incorporated in the polypropylene chains. These polymers are flexible and optically clear, making them suitable for applications requiring transparency and excellent appearance.

Benefits

Excellent clarity, high transparency, and good flexibility for injection molding, blow molding and thermoforming applications.

Applications

Blow MoldingCosmetics & high transparent bottles
ExtrusionPipe (PP-R)
FilmCast film, BOPP and blown film
Injection MoldingHigh clarity food packaging container (TWIM)
